St Michael’s at that time held its worship services and had office space at Faith Lutheran church on HWY 50 in O’Fallon.  He was a volunteer on the joint property committee and played on the joint volleyball and softball teams, including serving as a coach.  He also sang in the choir and served on the Bishop’s Committee from 1995 to 1998, including a position as Senior Warden for two years. Other interests include  membership on my credit union board and president of my amatuer radio club.   I have also worked in volunteer organizations wth prison ministry and outreach to seniors as well as members of the military community.  This has provided me with an opportunity to meet and interact with people of many backgrounds as well as attend many churches of different denominations. I have been an Episcoplain for nearly 30 years and have found a family at St. Michael's. This has proved to meet my needs for a church home.

Mrs. Marilee Oglesby Evans

MARILEMy philosophy of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church is it is truly an extension of family.

I and my husband, George, have lived in the Metro East area for over 30 years. We both were transferred to this area through our jobs with the State of Illinois, but we have since retired.

George was raised Catholic and I grew up in a non-denominational Protestant church. In a search for a church home, we both found common ground in the Episcopal church which is what led us to St. Michael’s. We have been attending St. Michael’s for over 10 years and in 2019, I made the decision to become confirmed.

I currently, besides the Bishop’s Committee, serve as an usher, nursery and Sunday school assistant, and the chairman of the Altar Guild.

The best way I can describe St. Michael’s is it feels like home.

Jim Holder

I began attending St Michael's Episcopal Church in 2023.  Feeling a need to return to a liturgical style of worship, I searched for several churchs on-line.  Upon hearing Father Greg's sermons, I started attending and was met with an extremely kind and welcoming congregation. I found a home at St. Michael's and joined the Bishop's
Committee in 2025.  In addition to the Bishop's Committee, I participate in our church's outreach events, am part of the yard crew, usher, and chalice bearer. St Michael's is a small community, but a warm and accepting community, and we would love to have you join us!

Eric e. Rodreguez

Picture1As a newcomer to the area and joining in 2023, Mr. Eric E. Rodriguez, a member of the Bishop’s Committee at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, is an inspiring advocate for building a community that is inclusive, welcoming, spirited, and centered around faith.  He is committed to his core priorities, faith, family, and, of course, football—something anyone who knows him can confirm.

Eric is originally from a cattle ranch on the outskirts of Lufkin, Texas.  He grew up attending a variety of church denominations, primarily influenced by a Catholic-to-Protestant upbringing.  This included Pentecostal teachings at United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin, TX.  He now embraces the foundational principles of the Episcopal Church, particularly the teachings of the three-legged stool and the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds.

After leaving Texas and moving to Missouri, Eric attended Missouri Western State University (MWSU) in St. Joseph on a football scholarship.  He then joined the military, serving in both the Air Force and the Marines, and retired as a Marine after more than 20 years.  Later, he graduated from Averett University in Danville, Virginia.

Throughout his career, Eric maintained a diverse spiritual exposure by attending various churches, primarily Baptist and Methodist.  The constant in his life has been his commitment to hearing, serving, and worshiping God’s word.  He has always felt a sense of belonging and a strong desire to be part of a faith-driven community, which he carried with him to each new location or military assignment.

During his time in various churches, Eric has actively served on multiple committees, boards, and outreach groups.  His spiritual contributions largely stem from volunteer efforts that include fundraising, summer camps, restoration campaigns, Bible studies, clerical teachings, and community renovation and disaster recovery, both in the US and around the world.  He continues to participate in many of these initiatives today in different capacities.

In addition to his church involvement, Eric enjoys volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and other events that support veterans.  He also loves spending time with his wife, Michelle, with whom he has been married for 29 years, as well as participating in activities with their sons and grandchildren.

Eric works in St. Louis, MO, as a Senior Program Manager for a company contracted by the government to provide services to a Department of War (DoW) client.  He possesses professional skills in various areas, including multilevel program management, government acquisitions, information technology (IT) systems engineering, electronics, and aviation.  One of his key responsibilities is leading a team that manages the IT deployment for the DoW client’s new, state-of-the-art facility.

To summarize some final points for Eric’s upcoming mission: To join a church and build a community, one must practice discipline in prayer through faith and foster trust within the community.  As stated in Colossians 3:12 (ESV), “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Additionally, it is essential to teach and hold one another accountable, as Proverbs 27:17 states, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” (ESV)
