This is a historical list of the COVID mitigations that have changed this year. Each time a mitigation was removed or added after May 2021, we made a note of it. They have been moved to this page for your reference and only the most current announcement will show on the Announcements page of our website (where they were previously tracked).
(5/21/2021) CHANGE TO MASK RULES FOR IN PERSON WORSHIP: Please see the following statement from the MLT regarding facemasks.
Responding to recent (May 13, 2021) guidance from national and local health and government authorities, the Mission Leadership Team of St. Michael’s recognizes that fully-vaccinated people currently are not required to wear a face mask or maintain distance during worship or church activities. Unvaccinated people, for their own safety, should continue using masks and social distancing in all church settings. Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing are best practices at all times and should be continued.
Social distancing is still encouraged during the worship service and when coming to the altar to receive communion.
(6/18/2021) On Sunday, June 20th we will begin increasing the amount of music we sing. We are adding several pieces of service music.
(7/18/2021) On Sunday, July 18th we will begin allowing the use of the altar rail during communion. The altar rail is sanitized weekly but not during communion.
(8/1/2021) On Sunday, August 1st we will be adding a communion hymn.
We have removed the blue tape on most of the pews. We are not discouraging social distancing, we are trusting that each person can decide what distancing they need for their circumstances and risk level. You are still encouraged to spread out and use the space available.
There are still 4 pews on the left side of the nave set aside with blue tape for those who need and prefer 6ft for social distancing. This includes the Children’s soft space.
(8/20/2021) Masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals. However, you are encouraged to follow federal, state and local guidance for facemasks and social distancing. Unvaccinated people, for their own safety, should continue using masks and social distancing in all church settings. Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing are best practices at all times and should be continued.
(9/3/2021) The Governor has issued a state wide indoor mask mandate. Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing are best practices at all times and should be continued.
(10/17/2021) Starting Sunday, October 17th we will be adding an offertory hymn and Doxology. We will also have Ushers again.
